Best attractions in Shanghai to visit. One of the largest cities in the world, Shanghai has a lot to offer to their tourists. One part of Shanghai is very modern with the high rise buildings and the other area, it's very traditional with temples, markets and Chinese gardens.
If you arrive by air at Shanghai Pudong International Airport, the Pudong Airport is situated 19 miles east of the city center of Shanghai. Buses, taxi and metro are available at the airport to the city. The Maglev, high speed train runs from the Long Yang Lu subway station to the Pudong Airport.
The easiest way to go around Shanghai is by subway. There are 11 lines now and it's one of the busiest metro in the world. Single tickets, one day passes and transit card are available.
Shanghai has three interesting areas: the Old City, the Bund (the riverside avenue) and Pudong (the newest district).
The Old City of Shanghai is one of my favorite places and one of the best attractions in Shanghai. It's typically Chinese with its temples, markets and buildings. The area is surrounded by a wall. Inside there are shops, restaurants and enough street entrainment to have fun.
The Yuyuan Garden are located in the center of the Old City. It's one of the nicest Chinese gardens. The Lantern Festival, beginning of the year, is one of the nicest festivals in Shanghai . Subway station: line 10 Yuyuan Garden station. The six main areas of the Yu Gardens are teh Grand Rockery, the Heralding Spring Hall, the Jade Magnificence Hall, the Lotus Pool and the Ten Thousand-Flower Tower.
The City God Temple is located near the old street Fangbang Lu and an entrance to the Bazaar. You can visit inside the Temple, generally crowded.
The Huxinting Teahouse is one of the favorite teahouses in Shanghai. The zigzag bridge and the building itself are very beautiful in the lotus pond.
The Pudong is the east part near the river of Huangpu. It is the financial district. The main towers are the Jinmao Tower, Shanghai World Financial Center and the Oriental Pearl Tower.
The most distinctive landmark is the Oriental Pearl Tower, the TV Tower. There are 15 viewing platforms and rotating restaurants. In the basement, the Shanghai History Museum displays ancient and modern cultural relics.
The Jin Mao Tower is looking like a pen. It is home of many offices and the luxurious Grand Hyatt Hotel. There is a food court in the basement. Don't miss the breathtaking view from the 88th floor viewing gallery.
The Shanghai World Financial Center is the second tallest building in the world. Located in the tower, The Park Hyatt Shanghai is the highest hotel in the world. The Observatory platform offers unforgettable views of the Huangpu River.
The Bund is one of the most famous attractions in Shanghai. Don't miss this very pleasant walk along the Huangpu River. Many historical buildings are from the colonial Shanghai.
The Shanghai Pudong Development Bank is one of the most beautiful building. A little further is the Customs House, go inside the magnificent main hall.
The Bund Sightseeing Tunnel is one of the tourist attractions in Shanghai. It's a surprising light show in a tunnel crosses Huangpu River.
The Nanjing Lu East is one of the pleasant shopping area in the Central of the Bund. Also many restaurants and cafes are located in this area.
