The Berliner Dom, or Berlin Cathedral is located on Museuminsel, Museum Island. The Cathedral stands in the Mitte district of Berlin, near the U-Bahn Alexanderplatz. Address: Berliner Dom, Am Lustgarden 1, Berlin.

William II, the Emperor of Germany, has decided to build the cathedral. Julius Carl Raschdorff was the architect. It took over 11 years to finish it.

The Berliner Dom is opened every day (Sundays and Holidays, noon to 8pm). You can visit inside with an entrance fee (free for children under 18 years old). The main interests are the majestic nave, the dome, the Baptismal and Matrimonial Chapel, the Imperial Staircase and the Crypt. Inside the Crypt, there are 95 tombs of the Hohenzollern Dynasty.

The Berlin Cathedral hosts classical concerts. Church music, and organ music, with the grand Sauer Organ. You find choirs, brass musicians, Christmas and New Year's Eve concerts. Famous compositions are played throughout the year.  Don't miss the Organ Festival in Berlin during the Summer.

Franzosischer Dom - French Cathedral 

The Franzosischer Dom or French Cathedral is one of the most beautiful churches in Berlin. The Cathedral is located on Gendarmenmark square. The Deutscher Dom (German Church) and the Konzerthaus concert hall are situated on the same square. Address: Gendarmenmarkt Berlin. Public transport: Franzosische Str. (U-Bahn).

The French Cathedral was built for the Huguenot community in Berlin, after the Huguenot temple in France was destroyed. The dome isn't a part of the church.

You find a museum inside the dome. You can climb to the top, and enjoy a very nice view of Berlin.

The St. Mary's Church is located on one of the main streets of Berlin, the Karl-Liebknecht-Straße. That is in the center of Berlin.

The Gedächtniskirche is a must-visit church in Berlin. The church is located on the most famous avenue of Berlin, the Kurfürstendamm and on a large square, the Breitscheidplatz. This old church has been really damaged during the Second World War.

The new church was rebuilt around an old part of the church that was not destroyed. The inside is beautiful, with blue walls.
