The Metropolitan Museum of Art near Central Park is one of my favorite museums in New York City. You can easily spend a half day to walk around the Egyptian Collection and admire the European paintings (Picasso, Monet...). You can't miss the Met. Closed on Mondays and some public holidays.

The building architecture of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum is quite impressive. The collection of the French paintings is really a must.
